Two Great Tastes...

That taste great together!
DoubleLogo.jpg
People often comment how much they like blending a couple of our beers, like Brown and Amber (makes a "Bramber") but being the beer purists we are, we don't really encourage the habit, preferring that each beer stand on its own merits. However, I recently discovered a combination that even Brock liked.
One evening after work was finished, I headed over to the bar where Jason Mustachio was working a private party. The Christmas ale had recently been tapped, but I couldn't decide between the malty richness of that beer or the hoppy bite of the Elissa. So I decided to have a little of both! Jason poured the mixture (it's not like a black & tan where you try to "float" one over the other) and I gave it a taste. Turns out that it tastes GREAT! So much so that I encouraged Jason to give it a try too. I could tell by his broad smile that we had a winning combination.
What to call it though?
Taking a page from "Bramber," "Chrilissa" was my first effort, but it's an awkward word that just doesn't fall trippingly off the tongue. My co-workers weighed in the next day when they sampled it and we soon arrived at "Christ on a Boat" which was soon shortened to "Man in a Boat." Needless to say, those got nixed by Brock. My friend and fellow Foam Ranger, Jimmy Paige sent an exhaustive list of potential names, including such gems as: "Hoppy Christmas," "Christmas at Sea" and "Hops for the Holidays."
Of course, the ultimate arbiter of names at the brewery is Brock, whose suggestion of "Sailing Santa" is the "official" title of this tasty seasonal concoction. So next time you're shopping, look for the Red & Green six packs and grab one of each, or if you're in a bar and both of the beers are available, ask the bartender for a "Sailing Santa" (this being a new combo, you may have to explain it to them) and enjoy two great tastes that taste great together!
