* SOLD OUT * Our 12th Annual One Pot Showdown is Sunday, January 27.

One Pot Showdown

Sunday, January 27 | 1:00 – 4:00 PM | $40
Saint Arnold Brewing Company

What started 12 years ago as a small cookoff (featuring mainly chilis) in our old parking lot has evolved into a huge cookoff of creative and eclectic dishes with a happy crowd and the downtown skyline in the background. On Sunday, January 27, we’ll have 80 cooking teams ready to serve you their tastiest dish made with Saint Arnold beer. It’s one part chili cookoff, one part stew stampede, one part gumbo gauntlet and ten parts Saint Arnold goodness.

A group of judges will sample all the dishes and award one team the coveted One Pot Trophy. You get to taste all of the dishes (or as many as you can!) and see if you agree with the judges.

Proceeds from this event go to Kid’s Meals, an organization that provides healthy lunches to preschool aged kids living in poverty. It’s like Meals on Wheels, but for kids.

Tickets are $40 per person, and you may purchase up to four tickets per email address. One Pot Showdown always sells out very quickly.

Please note: This is a big event, and parking will be pretty tight around the brewery on this day. We encourage you to ride share if you can. On the day of the event, Lyft will be offering a 20% discount on a ride to or from the brewery. Use the promo code ONEPOT or visit this link.

Cooking Team Registration is Now Full

Think you can combine Saint Arnold beer and your secret ingredients to make a dish better than anybody else? Here’s your chance to find out. Put together a cooking team for the 12th Annual Saint Arnold One Pot Showdown at the brewery on Sunday, January 27, 2019.

The team fee is $110 plus tax and online service fee, and there are no refunds on this. Please only signup if you know for sure your team can participate. If you register a team, please make sure you complete the signup and payment portion. If you do not complete the payment, your registration will not be completed, and you will not be registered.

When you signup a team, there is an option for advance purchase of up to four tickets for your friends and family to attend the event. You do not need tickets for you and your teammates to get in – that is covered in the team fee. If you want others to attend the event starting at 1:00, they will however need a ticket. This is the only time we will offer early tickets for the teams, so please go ahead and purchase them now.

Take one part chili cookoff, one part stew stampede, one part gumbo gauntlet, and ten parts Saint Arnold goodness; heat to a rolling boil, stir occasionally and there you have the One Pot Showdown.

Teams will compete using their best Saint Arnold beer related recipes.

Cooking Rules:

  1. Entries must be prepared on site starting no earlier than 9:00AM and must be completed by 1:00 PM
  2. All entries must contain at least one Saint Arnold beer as an ingredient. We will have some of our beers and root beer on tap for you to use that day, or you can bring an alternative Saint Arnold beer with you for cooking only. You must have prior approval one week in advance if you are bringing in an alternative Saint Arnold beer for cooking. No other alcohol is allowed on site.
  3. Teams must prepare enough of their entry to fill 250 2.5 oz sample cups (or roughly 5 gallons).
  4. Everything must be cooked in one pot. Cooked in one pot means: everything is cooked in one pot. All meat, veggies, and ingredients are cooked in one single pot. Nothing cooked in advance can be considered for judging. No smoked meats, no tamales, no pre-cooked or pre-formed dumplings, no pre-cooked bacon bits, no pre-cooked roux, no canned or boxed stock. It all has to be cooked in that pot on the day of the cookoff in the parking lot in your tent area between the hours of 9am and 1pm. This is a one pot cookoff. You cannot cook the meat in one pot, caramelize onions in another pot, and then combine them all in a third pot. This is a one pot cook off, so everything must be cooked in one pot.
  5. Ingredients such as garlic and onions can be chopped, diced, minced or pureed in advance, but not cooked in advance. Everything is cooked at the event in one pot. One pot.
  6. Sides, such as rice, pasta, polenta and crackers, can be used and prepared separately and in advance, but those items will not be considered for judging.
  7. No desserts.
  8. No deep frying.
  9. No outside alcohol allowed (unless for cooking with prior approval see #2).
  10. Only team members are allowed on premises between 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM. Teams are limited to four members. Maximum allowed on team is four people. No one outside of team members is allowed into the event until 1:00 PM.
  11. No electricity provided to teams and no generators are allowed.

Saint Arnold food police will walk around during the cooking times to “police” the above rules. Offending teams will not be considered for judging. It’s all about keeping with the “spirit” of the ONE POT Showdown.
