DDH Art Car IPA with Bru-1 and Mosaic Cryo

For this double dry hopped version of Art Car IPA, we hit our original recipe with an additional dry hop - using the new hop varietal Bru-1 along with Mosaic Cryo. This amplifies the aromatics and increases the tropical fruit and apricot character of your favorite IPA with additional notes of candied orange and pine.

Port Barrel Commitment

We aged our Commitment Imperial Stout in Ruby Port barrels for 10 months. This added a complex, rich red wine character to the dark chocolate of the base beer.

Muscat Barrel Commitment

We aged our Commitment Imperial Stout in Muscat Barrels for 10 months. The muscat character provided a delicate, candied orange/citrus flavor to the base beer.

Cognac Barrel French Press with Geisha Coffee

Geisha coffee - one of the world's most expensive and sought after varieties - is known for its berry and fruit forward flavors. For this beer, we worked with our local friends at Java Pura to source Anaerobic Cascade Hopped Geisha beans from Ratibor Hartmann's Mi Finquita Microlot in Panama. Even at $100/lb, we were happy to purchase the last of the lot.

What makes these beans so special? In this experimental batch, the farm fermented the whole coffee cherries in a drum using a process called anaerobico. To control the bacterial part of the fermentation, Cascade hops were added, reducing acidity and imparting a subtle hop flavor to the coffee. Our Innovation Brewer & Barrel Manager Colin Klingemann had the pleasure of visiting the farm last year to see this fermentation in action (and sample other experimental coffees - tough gig).

The end result is a coffee with potent notes of blueberry, citrus, raspberry, and black tea. On top of the acute flavors of grape brandy imparted by the Cognac barrels, this beer has a truly wild fruit forward profile.

Cherry On Top

With Cherry On Top, we used our traditional German-style Berliner Weisse, Boiler Room, and added tart cherry puree. This addition created a balanced flavor with the lemon zest character of the base beer and a nice cherry aroma and finish.

Coastal Harmony

Coastal Harmony is our take on a juicy double IPA. At 9.2% ABV and 71 IBU, our focus was to create a big tropical aroma and flavor while integrating bitterness rather than it being a focal point. To accomplish this, we used techniques similar to those we've learned from brewing Juicy IPA and Low Dose: late kettle hop additions and the use of Incognito, an all-natural hop product that delivers highly concentrated flavor and aroma.

This beer benefits the Urban South Coastal Harmony Fund, managed by the Greater New Orleans Foundation. Funds will be directed rapidly to organizations on the ground doing hurricane relief work in Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana, as well as the long-term work of rebuilding our coast.

Bitterness: 71 IBU

Perfect Pils

Perfect Pils is a classic Bohemian-style pilsner recipe. This beer exemplifies what we as brewers look for in one of our favorite styles: malt and hop flavor working together in harmony and creating balance from beginning to end.

Sour Session IPA

Sour Session IPA is a hoppy and refreshing beer. To create the soft acidity in this beer, we use the same process as our Boiler Room Berliner Weisse. Whirlpool and dry hop additions of Citra and Mosaic create a citrus and berry forward beer that finishes tart and fruity. You can settle in for a session with this one.

Hazy Pale Ale is double dry hopped with Citra, Mosaic, and Galaxy. It's a juicy burst of candied oranges and pineapple. A soft bitterness and clean finish round out this refreshing beer.

Black Is Beautiful

Led by Weathered Souls Brewing Co. in San Antonio, Black is Beautiful is a collaborative effort within the brewing community to bring awareness to the injustices people of color face daily. Weathered Souls has called on breweries across the world to participate and donate 100% of their beer's proceeds to a local organization that supports equality and inclusion. To date, over 1,100 breweries - from all 50 states and 21 countries - have joined the project.

At Saint Arnold, we feel it's important to keep the funds within our neighborhood. Proceeds from our Black is Beautiful beer releases will be donated to The Center for Urban Transformation, a newly established organization in the Fifth Ward providing community members a better continuum of services, bridging gaps, driving innovative cross-sector programming, and expanding resident capacity to lead change.

As for the beer itself, Weathered Souls thought it appropriate to brew a stout, specifically a 10.0% ABV imperial stout with features chocolate, roast, and toffee notes. They encouraged breweries to put their own spin on the provided recipe, and we've done so by creating three versions.

Boiler Room

Guess who's back. Our pleasantly tart, perfect for summer, you-thought-it-was-gone-forever Boiler Room, that's who. It's the same Berliner Weisse recipe you enjoyed before, but we swear it tastes even better from a can.

To jog your memory, Boiler Room is a light bodied but surprisingly flavorful sour wheat beer. The sweet malt and sour flavors balance well all the way through creating a very refreshing beverage, akin to drinking a tart lemonade or limeade.

Noble Haze

Our take on the Hazy IPA style. This recipe features a malt bill typical of the style, with large amounts of wheat and oats added to provide body and mouthfeel, balancing the blast of hop flavor and aroma.

We use a fair amount of Noble Hallertau Hersbrucker hops in many of our traditional German recipes, and they work nicely here too. A dry hopping of Hersbrucker, Hallertau Blanc, and Galaxy provide a fruit cocktail of floral, melon, tropical fruit, and citrus character. Please enjoy Noble Haze fresh while the hop flavor and aroma are at their peak.

Our second mixed culture release, half of this blend aged on wood for 30 months. We dry hopped with Amarillo to add a floral orange zest character and bottle conditioned for a dry, champagne like finish.

Barleywine Aged in Bourbon Barrels

Using our 20th Anniversary Ale as the base recipe, this English-Style Barleywine is fermented with our house yeast and aged 19 months in bourbon barrels.

Double Barrel Imperial Stout

We took our rich and alluring Commitment Imperial Stout and aged it 16 months in bourbon barrels and 12 months in port barrels. The result is not quite a beer, wine, or spirit.

Gratuity is a dry hopped pale ale featuring a new hop varietal, HBC-630. It has notes of cantaloupe and honeydew melon, with a balanced bitterness.

By partnering with our friends at Yakima Chief Hops, who donated hops for this beer and Country Malt Group, who donated malt for this beer, we are proud to be able to donate 100% of profits from Gratuity to Houston Shift Meal, an organization dedicated to providing out-of-work hospitality professionals with meals. This beer, like many of ours, is beer for a great cause.

Sabroconut Island

Sabro is a newish hop varietal we at Saint Arnold have been experimenting with for some time. After trying it in a wide range of applications, we found we liked it best in this Double Dry Hopped IPA. Sabro hops have huge coconut notes which play well with the tropical fruit character of this beer. It is reminiscent of a Caribbean Island drink - hence, Sabroconut Island.

Bitterness: 52 IBU

Pink Caddy

Pink Caddy is our Art Car IPA dry hopped with the Pink Boots Blend from Yakima Chief Hops, which includes Azacca, El Dorado, Idaho Gem, and Loral. This specially created blend adds more floral and melon notes to the beer.

All of the profits from Pink Caddy will be donated directly to the Houston chapter of Pink Boots Society, an international 501c3 nonprofit with chapters around the world. They offer education and networking to women in the beer industry in the form of scholarships, educational opportunities, and a supportive community in which to grow.

Russian Imperial Stout Aged in Bourbon Barrels

Our Russian Imperial Stout Aged in Bourbon Barrels pours a brown black with a cafe au lait head. Nose is chocolate bourbon liqueur. Sweet malt and smooth roast are at the start with chocolate and bourbon coming on in the middle. Hop bitter and roast cleans the palate on the finish giving a nice focus to the beer. Overall like biting into a big block of dark chocolate. A little of the alcohol can be felt in the finish but it is surprisingly light given the ABV.

Russian Imperial Stout

Our Russian Imperial Stout has a rich malty body full of coffee and chocolate flavors and a spiciness derived from the combination hops and high alcohol. It was brewed with a variety of malts including 2 row pale, crystal, chocolate and roasted barley. It was hopped with Nugget, Willamette and Centennial. We used our Saint Arnold yeast to ferment it. It is unfiltered.

Just Haze

Just Haze is a double dry hopped hazy IPA. It pours an opaque, gold/orange hue with a white head. The aroma bursts with a mixture of citrus, tropical fruit, and beautiful white grape character from the German Hallertau Blanc hops. The flavor is an upfront citrus bomb with a mix of mango and juicy pineapple notes. The overall soft bitterness still provides a balanced hop flavor, which seems to mimic the pulp of the juice, but it doesn’t linger too long.

Chocolate Milk Stout

Chocolate Milk Stout uses Hugo's Mexican chocolate. Chocolate dominates, with notes of toffee, stone fruit, and cinnamon. Sweetness is balanced by the hop and roast bitterness. A medium body and creamy mouthfeel leads to a surprisingly crisp finish.

Double Art Car IPA

Since we released Art Car IPA back in August 2015, it’s quickly become a brewery favorite. Recently, we reflected on what makes is such an enjoyable beer: big hop aroma, slight malt backbone to provide balance, and a clean finish that doesn’t leave a bitter ending. For Double Art Car IPA, we wanted to take these components and amplify them. We increased the malt bill to bring up the alcohol by a little more than 1.0%. We also added a Citra dry hop at the start of fermentation to bring out an additional burst of bright citrus aroma and flavor - still with a clean finish.

Barrel Aged Wild Saison

Aged 16 months in the barrel. Our Saison aged in neutral wine barrels in the presence of brettanomyces, lactobacillus and pedioccous. Stone fruit forward aroma with lemon zest and slight candied ginger. Beautiful white wine, and shortbread flavor with an acute dry finish.

25th Anniversary Grand Cru

Our 25th Anniversary Grand Cru is a blend of three bourbon barrel aged beers: Belgian-Style Quadrupel, Russian Imperial Stout, and English-Style Barleywine. It is a toast to the community we’ve worked to build through our passion for beer and represents the quality and innovation we’ve strived to provide over our first 25 years.

In the beer world, Grand Cru can have a couple of meanings depending on the origin of reference. For us, Grand Cru is a blend of some of our most cherished beers, with the hope of delivering a beer that is greater than the sum of its parts. We feel we’ve achieved exactly that. We brewed three classic Saint Arnold recipes that originally appeared in our Divine Reserve series or Bishop’s Barrel series, then laid them down to rest in bourbon barrels. After tasting every single barrel, a total of 190, we sat down to create the final blend:

50% Belgian-Style Quadrupel
25% Russian Imperial Stout
25% English-Style Barleywine

Our 25th Anniversary Grand Cru is a full bodied, complex, yet balanced barrel aged beer. The Quad presents character of plums and dried cherries, followed by bitter dark chocolate, lavender, and subtle roast bitterness from the Stout. The Barleywine provides a backbone of toffee/caramel sweetness balanced by a soft hop bitter finish. The bourbon is delicately laced throughout, uniting all the components of the blend.

Not A Collaboration
