2020 Pumpkinator is now available, along with two barrel aged versions.
Boo! Did Pumpkinator sneak up on you this year?
Pumpkinator began life eleven years ago as Divine Reserve No. 9 and our answer to how a pumpkin beer ought to taste. Your pleas for its return brought it back in 2011, and now we release it once a year right around this time. Just last year, Pumpkinator received its third medal, adding a Great American Beer Festival Bronze to its 2017 GABF Gold Medal and its 2012 World Beer Cup Silver Medal.
Everything is a little over the top with our Imperial Pumpkin Stout, which perversely makes it balanced. Beyond the big malt bill, it has pumpkin (lots of it), molasses, brown sugar and a healthy load of spices. It’s 10.5% ABV which makes it a dessert by itself or the perfect accompaniment to your holiday meal.
This is also a beer that ages magnificently. Many really enjoy it most after a year or two. If you do want to lay some down, it is best to age this beer at cold temperatures (your refrigerator is highly recommended over your closet).
Also Coming Monday:
Pumpkinator Aged in Bourbon Barrels &
Pumpkinator Aged in Bourbon Barrels with Cocoa Nibs
This year we’re excited to release not one, but two barrel aged versions of Pumpkinator. Like the past few years, limited quantities of our Woodford Reserve bourbon barrel aged Pumpkinator will be available. With oak, bourbon, vanilla, and dark fruit notes (and at 12.9% ABV), it’s even bigger than the original.
New for this year is Pumpkinator Aged in Bourbon Barrels with Cocoa Nibs. For this special variation, we aged Pumpkinator in bourbon barrels for over a year with cocoa nibs from Tejas Chocolate in Tomball for an extra layer of rich, chocolate flavor. The result is a decadent ale with mellowed spices, complex malt character, and balanced bourbon notes.
Where to Find Pumpkinator
Pumpkinator and its variants will be available starting Monday, October 12. (Please note that not every account that is getting Pumpkinator will get it that day – some have other delivery days during the week.) You can find Pumpkinator in 22 oz bottles and on tap at select spots around town. The two barrel aged versions are available in 12 oz bottles.
